Club League Round 1

Thanks to all who made it along last night for the first round of the club league at the Hellfire club. MAD put in a good showing, with Ryan taking first place in impressive fashion. Second went to Dave Barry of the IMBRC, with Paddy following closely in third place, then Morgan. Well done to Gerry Walsh, new to MAD, who put in a strong performance in his first race. Hard luck to Nigel, who retired after two laps with a mechanical.

Remember, league results will count towards the club championships, so anybody with their eye on the MAD Perpetual Trophy would do well to attend!

and a big thanks to Gar Maguire of IMBRC for the running and timing of the race.

The first lap was class cos no one actually knew the way so many a detour was taken along the way, generally through some gorse bushes. Ryans legs were in shreds by the end!

That was a good evening spin - a nice warm up on the road to get to the hellfire followed by a few laps of the course. The race itself was a bit disasterous for me - I got lost twice and was too stubborn to turn around. By the time I got back on track I was well behind. I still don't have my racing legs. Maybe Ryan can give us lessons.

Excuses excuses! You've only yourself to blame ... you were beside me when we overshot that right hand downhill turn, but you just kept on going. Like forest gump on two wheels!

It was fun (once I figured out the way to go without going through the gorse).

It was a great evening for it too. Everybody else should be out - no excuses and there is nothing like a bit of a race to improve your fitness!

Next weeks course will be class, everyone could manage it.
