Well done to all in Lumpers today

Ryan

The torrential rain and a hint of mud didn't stop the brave racers of MAD putting in some fine performances today in Co. Louth.
In sports we had Paddy (9th) Melanie (14th) Mark Cromie (10th), Feargal(13th), Christian(18th) and Mick(20th) battling it out over 2 laps of a tight, technical fun course that seemed to leave all riders with a smile.
Ryan, Morgan(16th) and Piotr (9th Masters) competed over 4 laps in experts, we've also laid claim to Andy (9th) too.....Ryan suffered a mechanical but still managed to come in a very respectable 10th, Morgan beat his new nemesis Darragh Maloney by luring him into conversation on the last lap and then opening up a big gap, while Piotr drank only 1/4 of a waterbottle during the whole race.
Steve was unlucky to snap his seatpost on the first lap, while in second place in the juniors cat.

Results above are all based on hear'say so may be wrong, I'll update them when I see the full results.

The next race is the POG, hosted by Team WORC on the 18th of June in Ballinastoe (though not in the same area as the last race there, apparently) so we'd love to see everybody make the effort to get out for that.

Sean

A great course yesterday - I just could not seem to get into any sorta groove around it until the end. I learned a lot about riding in the mud though :)

Also, I somehow managed to pick up someone elses jersey (in addition to mine). It's a short sleeve large - drop me an email if it's yours.

Thanks to everyone who cheered us along and took photos! (And I hope you got to enjoy watching everyone crashing!)

Fantastic but very tough course ... 2 laps was about all i could have managed!

Well done to everyone who was out yesterday and particular thanks to the mad supporters club, its great to be cheered on when racing (and to have yummy cake to eat afterwards)

I hope to post my photos tomorrow

What a day in Lumpers! It was my first day out supporting and I had a great day despite the rain and muck! I tell you I think I will need a few practice runs before I could tackle some of those down hill sections! Though it certaintly made me want to get my bike!

I can tell you I was so glad of the tent!

Well done to everyone and thanks for a great day and can't wait for the next one!

The rain, the rain! It started just as we approached Lumpers and it's still falling. We were reluctant to even get out of the car but that would have meant missing the best race of the year so far.

There was just one long climb at the start and after that it was nearly 100% singletrack in a downhill direction. There was a section of boardwalk too, to test the nerves. Parts of the course were surprisingly dry while others became extremely slippery with use. In a lot of sections you had to point your bike, let go of the brakes and go with the flow. Two wheel slides were order of the day. I was happy with my result, a couple of places higher than last time (not last!).

There was a party atmosphere in the MAD tent afterwards as everyone sheltered from the constant downpour. And I was thrilled to find my car had filled up with water due to a mysterious leak.

No more races for a month or so - we'll have to start planning some good days out.

Yeah it was a terrible pity about my seat post:( Regretted not taking Paddys bike after he offered after the race. Good tip.. Buy a cheap seatpost from cyclelogical, snap it, and they give you a Thompson Elite post F.O.C!!:D:D:D
