MTB Beginners Course - Week 1

The MAD MTB Beginners Course kicks off on Saturday September 2nd. We'll meet up in the Hellfire Club car park at 10am (directions below). Sean and Morgan will show you how to check your bike over before the ride and how to set it up properly. We'll then have an easy ride around Masseys Wood for about two hours.

Helmets are compulsory on these rides - no exceptions under any circumstances. Check here for a list of what else to bring.

There is no cost for attending these rides but anyone continuing to ride with MAD afterwards must join the club (€20, +€35 Cycling Ireland membership). Sean also likes Jaffa Cakes.

Hellfire Club Directions
From the Yellow House in Rathfarnham take Willbrook Road south
Continue along Ballyboden road until you reach the Ballyboden Roundabout
(you can also get to the roundabout from Grange Road to the east, or the Ballycullen exit of the M50)
Go straight through the roundabout and take the first right
Take the first left, up Stocking Lane
The Hellfire Car park is 2km along, on the right.

Why didn't you wash your face before your blog-snap was taken?
You look very serious, kinda like you are in a Garda ID parade photo:

"...now son, stop crying, look carefully and take your time, tell me; which one of these lads shouted rider-up and then pushed you off your bike into the gorse?"

Well done everybody for turning up this morning in somewhat "moist" conditions, very impressive turnout of 14.
Think everybody enjoyed it and everyone seemed to manage everything well.
For next week, I'd like to see:
-People eat some food during the course of a spin, important for keeping energy levels up
-People not worrying (or apologising!) about being last/slow. Go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with and enjoy yourself.
-I'd love people to have some more confidence in themselves and not bother with "Oh, you seem a bit better, go ahead there, I'll just go after everyone else....." No-ones going to say anything nasty if you jumo in ahead of them!
-It's also be cool if everyone did some sort of sundance to entice the sun out. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone out again next week, with a few more new faces too as well!

Hi, I found this video link which sums up some of what we spoke about on Saturday regarding bike setup.
    Bike setup
I'll have a look for more and try to post them in advance of the things we'll be covering in future spins.
And for anyone who believes in sod's law.....after giving the talk on Saturday, my handlebars came loose during the race on Sunday :-P
