MTB Beginners Course - Week 2

Fourteen new riders braved extreme weather conditions for our first beginners ride last Saturday. The rain didn't stop for the entire spin but that didn't prevent them tackling everything in their path - uphill and down - with smiles and enthusiasm. Instruction was proved on tackling various obstacles and Sean showed how to check your bike over before a ride.

Lovely Jaffa Cakes

Our destination this week is Kindlestown forest in Co. Wicklow (forest car park, 10am). There's a great loop there which we'll have you flying around in no time. We'll also show you how to repair a puncture - fast. It's not essential to attend all the rides (although we'd recommend it) so even if you missed last week you can still come along.

Riders under 18 and their parents must read this.

Directions to Kindlestown
-------------------------------------
Take the M11/N11 south to Kilmacanogue
Two miles or so after Kilmacanogue you'll pass the "Eco Shop" on your left
Take the next exit signposted "Glenview Hotel"
Take the next right turn (do not cross the flyover bridge)
You'll pass the Glen of the Downs golf club on your left, then take a right
The entrance to Kindlestown car park is on your left.

Start time is 10am and will last for about 2 hours I reckon. The course there is really nice, a great place to learn and have fun.

Biscuits? ...not really a requirement, but you would earn muchas respectas if seen wielding a pack of jaffa cakes!

    like, oh-my-god!
Who was the sad-ass that went down to Dunnes Stores and took a photo of all those Jaffas?!!
..and don't say ye found an old pic on the web, I can see that sell-by date of Sept 2006 on one of the packs!!
    Morgan was that you?
    Sean - was it you?
It was one of ye, ye were told no stopping in the shops on the way home from Ticknock last night!!

I hope ye got tackled by store security and thrown out without having got any points on your Club card!!

I don't know who's the worse - the one who took the pic, or the one who analysed it to find out the sell by date...

Shane, if you're Shane Geoghegan, you gave us your form when you came along first.

Actually, you really only need the form if you're U16, we might make exceptions if you're 16 or 17, you should be getting some sense at this stage.

    Shane,
Why not try Christian's longer spin and try to improve on your fitness a bit?

Well done to everybody who came put this week, a great turnout.
Hope to see everyone out again next week, details of this to follow.
The puncture demo could only ever go wrong and one question remains - was it a mischievious act on the part of Mick to show Morgan up????
