Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July

Well prepared mountainbikers
Hello all,
We are back to the regular weekends of no official racing, but we have a few things in mind for those of you with the racing bug!

Saturday - Morgan's Saturday spin. Meeting at Taylor's Threerock Pub at 10am. We are going to spin up to the Bluelight pub and do a timed climb from there all the way to the top of Fairy Castle. Steve suggested that we set up a section on the website with records of certain trails and this is the first one. We will follow that with laps of the club course in preparation for the National Championships next weekend.

Sunday - Regular Sunday spin. Meeting at the Yellow House Pub at 10am. We're going for a nice long spin starting with a timed run of the Kilmashogue Hillclimb! Ryan has set the bar for us - 13mins 30secs. Destination after the climb is yet to be confirmed but expect the spin to last 3-5 hours
Alternate Sunday Spin. Shane Lavelle and Ciaran Clissman are taking a spin down in Glendalough. Meeting at Glendalough Visitor's Carpark at 9am. Contact Shane with any questions on 0863195936.

Any other queries, contact the committee at committee AT madmtb DOT com

I just want to mention that everyone is welcome to come along on Saturday - this isn't just for the fast riders. It's aimed at becoming faster.

Lovely sunny spin today. The hill climb was hard work - I think we can all improve a bit on that. You can see the times here. We checked out the new trail too - the TTOT is like nothing I've ever seen....

great spin, I'm planning to take 10 m ins off that time next week Morgan! 2 falls and warm conditions made it HARD!!

Improve a little? Some of us can improve a lot! Great spin all the same, even if a few of us hit the deck once or twice ( hope your ok Karl ).

    What's this??!!
Morgan beat Oisin by 6 seconds?
I'd say that was a fun race.

The DH seeding runs in Rostrevor today were unbeleivable, mud flowed like that river in Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory.
Steve smashed his last remaining hanger (the other on Friday) on a landing.
He was very vexed, looks like I'll be MADs' sole rep tomorrow.
More of the same tomorrow, oh no......

A strong headwind and flappy shorts held me back a bit, so should knock at least 10 seconds off my next run, which will be in full lycra...

More hillclimbing on Sunday - up Kilmashogue this time. Sean and Noel set a blistering pace from the start, with the rest of us just trying to keep up. It's an easier climb than Fairy Castle - fire road all the way, so you just have to put your head down and keep pedalling. In theory. You can see the times here. Also, thanks to Oisin we have a profile of Saturdays climb.

After everyone had made it to the top (after a bit of a detour...) we carried on along the Wicklow Way, down the Woccas and up over Tibradden. The climb up is totally eroded now - I'm not sure if it's possible to ride up cleanly. From there we climbed through Cruagh (leaving Cait and Nigel here) and over the Featherbeds (totally waterlogged). Finally, after a sprint down Military Road we headed to Masseys for a climb to the top and a fast descent to finish off. Tired legs heading home...
