Mr. Ketchup Wins Club Champs
Things are finally getting back to normal after the MAD Club Champs 2007. My hands have stopped shaking and the double-vision is nearly gone. After talking with the committee and piecing together our fragmented memories the following results emerged:
Steve "Ketchup" Scrivener took first place in the Champs, finally winning the MAD Perpetual Trophy which he's coveted for so long.

Former club champion Sean Downey took silver, showing that despite his advancing years he's still a force to be reckoned with.

The bronze medal went to Shane Geoghegan whose strong racing form during the year is really paying off.

A number of other awards were also presented at the AGM. Conor Coneff received the award for Greatest Contribution 2007. Without his great trailbuilding efforts during the year this years event wouldn't have been possible.

The Best Newcomer award went to Ollie Castle for getting so involved with the club in the short time he's been with us and taking an active role in organising activities.

Ryan Sherlock took the well-deserved Most Awesome Racer award after his 2007 NPS Series Elite victory, numerous podium finishes and his foray into international XC and marathon racing.

Finally the Dirtiest Rider award went to Tom "Thong" Heavey who reminds us all that if you can't be a good example you should at least be a terrible warning.

The 2008 club committee was also elected at the AGM - stay tuned for full details...

"Tom Thong" - excellent Morgan, that's gonna last and last....
well done to Steve for his first place - well deserved - a busier rider all season you won't find what with his hectic dh, xc, trailbuilding, racing and spins schedule!
also congrats to all the other riders - everyone worked hard to earn their trophies!
I'm sure that if I hadn't incurred a costume malfunction (santas shorts got wrapped around his big ring (large front cog OK!) and got wrapped-up in the drive train and eventually were pulled down as he continued to pedal furiously, resulting in a rather silly and embarassing crash) the Sherlock lad would have been in trouble!
I wasn't right all Sunday after all that drinking....

Man I feel so proud, yeah that party took it's toll for sure, but hey thats what life is all about, pushing the boundaries y'know...
I knew something was up in the race when I had a huge lead on Ryan, Morgan, Steve, Fergal and Cait..so instead of thinking hey somethings up here I may have missed a section, I thought "God I must be some kind of natural athlete who can party like a devil and cycle like a god, and kept pedalling"

In heinsight, I regret not going to that party. Birthday was over all too early, club closed and got a taxi back to a friends house. Too tame for my first night legal altogether!! Bring on the MAD lash, hoping that'll put hairs on my chest!

Thinking back on it, that course was really good. Had enough techinical climbing and super technical descending (saw my life flash before my eyes as santa loomed behind me coming down the gnarly fireroad drop) Maybe an idea to have a few of them to hone the techie skills before K Cap?

I think that course has decent xc race-training potential.
I have a nice tough route in mind for anyone who wants a training route for the K-Cap / NPS.
There'll be the option of fireroad or singletrack climb back up to the aerials and fast techy descent.
You can easily add/subtract sections to increase the overall distance as you get stronger/faster.
We'll kick it off in Jan for people that are interested
