Mr. Ketchup Wins Club Champs

Things are finally getting back to normal after the MAD Club Champs 2007. My hands have stopped shaking and the double-vision is nearly gone. After talking with the committee and piecing together our fragmented memories the following results emerged:

Steve "Ketchup" Scrivener took first place in the Champs, finally winning the MAD Perpetual Trophy which he's coveted for so long.
Club Champion 2007
Former club champion Sean Downey took silver, showing that despite his advancing years he's still a force to be reckoned with.
Club Champs 2nd Place
The bronze medal went to Shane Geoghegan whose strong racing form during the year is really paying off.
Club Champs 3rd Place

A number of other awards were also presented at the AGM. Conor Coneff received the award for Greatest Contribution 2007. Without his great trailbuilding efforts during the year this years event wouldn't have been possible.
Greatest Contribution 2007
The Best Newcomer award went to Ollie Castle for getting so involved with the club in the short time he's been with us and taking an active role in organising activities.
Best Newcomer 2007
Ryan Sherlock took the well-deserved Most Awesome Racer award after his 2007 NPS Series Elite victory, numerous podium finishes and his foray into international XC and marathon racing.
Most Awesome Racer 2007
Finally the Dirtiest Rider award went to Tom "Thong" Heavey who reminds us all that if you can't be a good example you should at least be a terrible warning.
Dirtiest Rider 2007

The 2008 club committee was also elected at the AGM - stay tuned for full details...

MAD Club Champs 2007

You voted, we listened, and Saturday Dec 1st will be the day for the ultimate MTB & mince pie event of the year! Meet at Taylors car park at 10.30 for a leisurely ride up to the race venue.

Checkout the Race Route here

The event will consist of a wickedly handicapped race with various challenges afterwards. Fancy dress is encouraged and will be worth your while. Anyone who shows up on an incorrect bike (BMX, shopper, recumbent etc.) will also be richly rewarded.
We will then be retiring to Taylors Three Rock pub for some finger-food (food made from real fingers) and refreshments.
After we've been cocktail-sausaged-up, we'll be having our AGM, where we'll be reviewing the year, previewing next year, and of course, handing over the Club Champs trophy to the worthy winner, we'll also be giving out prizes for various 'acheivements' throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing you there on the day, and on the night also, when we'll be meeting in the Bull and Castle pub at approx. 8pm for a night of talking about how most of us were crually denied our opportunity to be Club Champs and othersuch guff.

Trailbuilding for Club Champs: Sat 17th Nov

New section added by Richie and Fergal today - think we'll call it "satellite run" after the dish we found there:

It's just down from the upper aerials, veer into the right as you approach the large aerial and over the hump and into the left.
We did some work on an existing section just down from this new section - cleared the trail a bit and added some hardcore in soft areas.
If anyone is looking to do some trailbuilding over the weekend - the lower trail could do with some more hardcore in the muddy areas, also the "satellite run" trail could do with some hardcore added just near the end of the singletrack where it soft/muddy.

Howdy all,
Part 2 of our trailbuilding escapades sees us prepaing a course section for our Club Champs. Appreciate if you can make it out for a few hours, we got a great two sections done the last time so hopefully we'll add another option or two to the list.

Tools:
Mostly strong/yard brushes and rakes.
Spade, loppers also useful.

I'll be up there from approx 9am

Put a post here or text me on 087-792-7730 if you can make it out
Thanks
Fergal
