Things for your diary

Club League Round 3
Thursday 25th at 7:30
This event will be a hillclimb, starting on the road before turning into the Hellfire and up the fireroad.
The starting point is on the road up to the Hellfire from the Firhouse or Rathfarnham areas.
Coming from Firhouse, Climb up the windy road until you get to a t-junction, with a farm gste.
From the Rathfarnham direction, go right at the junction just after the Ballyboden roundabout, then the next left and all the way up the hill until you get to the t-junction.
If you are driving I recommend driving to the Hellfire and rolling down the road again, as there's no parking at the start.

Also some advanced notice to allow you to clear your diary, the next round of the NPS is on in Ballinastoe on June 18th (Fathers Day so no excuses for not being able to get out of the house for the day lads!)

    Hey,
If this (Club league) is just going to be a road/fireroad climb, are slicks/ a hybrid permitted?

If the weather stays the way it is....full on mud knobblies might just be the way to go.....and no, Steve, its a MTB race, ergo you use a MTB

Do mtb races not involve cycling around mountains? Is this not just cyling up the road to the mountain and then race over? Or have I misunderstood?

you've misunderstood.....we're a mountainbike club, the race is on a mountain, therefore you use a mountainbike....

We all know Sean would be doing this on his cross bike if he had it yet ;). Depending on the route of the climb I expect we'll be off road for some of it.

Anyway - do you want to come back down the singletrack on your hybrid?

well, he tried daggets track on it before......and as for the cross bike, good luck getting up the first bit of this climb with a double chainset, even with compact rings!

The course is about 50% off road too....
It goes Road: easy bit, really steep bit, flat bit, turn into carpark. Off-Road: Moderate to demoralising, flat, more flat and then a sprint up the final steep bit to the house.
