Final Round Winter DH League

The final round of the Winter DH league is on this Sunday. If you were spectating at the second round, i'm sure you saw how much fun it is! This round is in Cloon once again with the same course. There is nothing unrideable on this course. Although there are two jumps, both of these have chicken runs around them.

Believe me, you will never feel your heart beating so fast or as much adrenaline pumping until you are listening to your start beeps on the opening gate. It is an experience everybody has to try! Espcially in Ireland's Premier Mountain Bike Club!

Please let me know if you want to participate and I can give you an idea of what goes on at these races. All information about the day can be found here: http://www.irishdh.com/2007news/newsfeb07winterleaguepreview4.htm
Full face helmet is compulsary to enter, however, don't let this put you off as lenders are easy to come by.

Please let me know if your interested : stephen_scrivener@yahoo.coDOTuk - 0861653925

Really guys! Would be brilliant to see some more MAD jerseys at this, I know loads of you would love it!!

There's going to be another MAD entrant at the race this weekend due to a recently delivered Patriot 66 and a wardrobe of body armour....

Come on lads! Nobody said you needed a DH bike to enter... There are going to be lads on huge travel machines with absolutely no skill (after me of course :P) that anybody in this club could beat on an XC rig!

Toms chance to redeem himself maybe? Ill lend u armour and helmet for it :D

Well that was an interesting day...

Myself and Rob set off before 9 in glorius sunshine. When we arrived at Cloon we quickly made it up for a practive run. Both of us completely messed this up I think. I was not used to all of the mud (very very gloopy) and binned it on the first jump (bending my big ring :( ) Made it down feeling very sorry for myself. Robb had a small crash too I think, so he went up to do it again.

We pushed up for another practice run and this time it went MUCH better, I hit everything just right and even got some nice air off the first jump.

The first run was a completely savage one for Robb, he put in a time that would have been very respectable in Seniors! Unforunately, I didnt do so well. I was going well for the hardest sections (the top ones) and look set to put in something a bit under 2 mins but I lost power in my arms near the end and binned it. Lost a good 20 seconds here while I tried to get some momentum again :(

By the time we go up for our second run, it was getting dark and cold. Robbs break had been quicly disintergrating all day and it finally decided to give up.He still put in a respectable time however (not of the calibre of his first)

I had a disastrous run. Crashed properly, 3 times! This gave me a woeful time fit for a granny.

Thanks a million lads for coming out to support, I would have gona out of my mind if Tom and Oisin to releave some tension at the start :)Also big thanks to Shane and Richie who came to marshal/support/take pics! Lets hope this is just the start of MAD DH TEAM RACING! (I can picture the cool jerseys already)

e'll forgive your spelling errors steve, we still love you....Well done lads for entering the race yesterday as conditions looked tricky enough, there is a real sense of excitement at the DH races thats very different from a xc event, an almost palpable sense of fear...

its great to see some of our own guys out on the track, well done Rob for putting in times like that in your first race!, especially with wayward brakes on the wrong way round!..(they must be gargantuan)....He's one to watch i suspect...

Our own sunday spin was one to forget for a myriad of reasons, although the rip through masseys made it almost worthwhile...

sorry i missed the race to shout and spin over yesterday morning, was at Rathfarnham for 8.45 when the missus called, she needed her driving licence for her first lesson at 9.30, which on on my desk in work....in Santry, after a very quick drive round the M50 and back to the Blanch i got it to her for 9.20, all my M50 karma points have been spent, i'll be drivin very slow from now on. anyways ended up cyclin up to 3 rock on my own and met Ronan and Brendan headin out, was still going to Cloon at this stage, but after a climb up to the aerials, my heart wasn't in it and i showed the lads round that trail near the club course, back up to the aerials where the two lads went in the direction of Fairycastle and I was off down the boneshaker for a very slow walker infested descent, good fairly quick spin overall though
