ah, hello there mr or miss or mrs anonymous whoever you are???

Yes it is indeed, but note that the pace will be 80% race pace - ie; people will get dropped/spread-out, but it will be organised around a specific loop/series of loops so nobody should get lost or lonely.

Note that I'll be up 3rock tonight at 7pm approx checking-out loops for this, so by all means come along if you can and we can decide what will be a good series of loops to use.

I might set-up a dual-loop system for the session to be of benefit to those who want to enhance their DH skills as well as XC fitness/skills.
I've found thru experience that DH-type stuff improves your bike control/reactions very effectively so it's well worth giving it a go.

The XC loop will likely be the MAD club course (upper and mid sections) and that horrible yet character-and-strength-and-endurance-building fireroad back up to the aerials and repeat.

There are some technical DH sections before and after Daggetts, I think 4 of them can be incorporated into the same loop I have in mind, each involve an exit to the same fireroad, just at different places along that fireroad, so I will be checking these out tonight. The weather has been good lately so they all should be rideable.

It'll be a fun night tonight checking the options, kinda like a party on a bike without the beer, and dancing ladies, and disco lights and music.... well actually not much like a traditional party at all....but good craic all the same.
    See ye "out there"
    Mr Secretary

Hi Fergal, Inga here. Was thinking Tuesday night spin looks enticing...but will it be okay for me? ie: not too downhill type technical, fast, etc? Really want to do some race training but don't want to hold everyone up.....please advise!

    hey Inga,

You'll be fine for this spin. Its laps of a particular track anyway so if you have any issue or need a break you cna just stop and wait for the others to come around again.

ah ha! mystery lady reveals her true identity!!

yeah sure, there will be 2 different loops, one will be a more technical DH type loop for people who want to do it, the other will be an XC type loop, not as technically difficult/steep but still great training.

I'm thinking that the people who are not sure about which loop to do then the XC loop would probably be best, but no problem if people want to try both.

The DH loopers could finish-up with a loop of the XC loop if they wanted - it'll be quite flexible.

I just want to be sure that everyone gets home/down ok,
so we might arrange a rendezvous time/place at the end of the spin (perhaps the aerials) to make sure there's no one left hanging out of a tree somewhere.

We can then all head-down the boneshaker together like a big happy (crazy) family!!

awesome! Will find car park for 7pm...see you there PS: the original anonymous wasn't actually me (Inga).....the plot thickens.

    I see, plot thickens indeed!
If you want to identify yourself on future posts, the handiest way is to select the "Other" radio-button under the "Leave your comment" box and
then you can enter whatever your name you like.

    I'd suggest meeting at
Taylors pub as we usually finish spins going down the boneshaker, which then leads to the road which goes to Taylors, it also a good way to warm-up before you get to the car park - entirely up to yourself though!
Taylors pub is at the foot of Kellytown road, on your left, just before you go under the motorway bridge

Well, what a deadly spin tonight! Such perfect weather, crispy, clear & crunchy 'neath knobbled tyres.

I met Judith and Cormac at Taylors, we went up and did a loop of the club course, then met a freshly-sprinted Morgan and sensibly shoe-covered Andy complete with devil-red jacket at the aerials (be aware that fashion takes 2nd place to warmth on night spins).

Lots of favourite trails were covered, especially No-Dabs and Daggetts - I love them - big kisses to the two of them, both in perfect working order, except for the exit from No-Dabs, whch I intend to fix on Sat...fix it good too...yeah

I found an old DH track that I never knew about near the MAD cc - Steve - you & 'Jim' will like it if you haven't seen it before...took a spin down it over icy granite boulders and all was well - granite has great traction you know!

The transition to the boneshaker was very fast as the ground was so hard, and there were loads of stars out too, I noted the Orion constellation (while stationary mind you) and a few deer winked at me, Tom will be mad jealous...

bye for now my two-wheeled friends!
    Mr Secretary

oh jaysus I nearly forgot!- Sean and Steve texted me while I was on the spin to tell me I was on the telly!
Did ye see me? Wasn't I deadly?

Yer man ran out of film for my 40ft gap jump though....pity....

It's rides like the one last night that remind me why I love mountainbiking. Bone dry trails, speeding downhill and up, good company - and not even getting muddy! Just perfect.

    "Fergal and his woodland friends"

Morgan, you're a gas man, gives the impression of me sitting on a tree stump telling happy stories to deer and squirrels and bunnies and other fluffy wood-dwellers.................................. 'til some mad fecker on a DH rig lands his gap jump on one of the poor bunnies, awwwwww....then it's back to bikin' time baby! Wahhheey!

    Hi Morgan,

that link doesn't work for me. I've tried to go on to the RTE website too to have a look at it... any ideas? Is it working for everyone else?
