MAD Dash Results

All the weeks of work came to an end today as MAD held it's first open race of recent years in Slade Valley. It was a great success with a strong field of 62 riders braving the damp conditions. The gales of the previous night had taken their toll on the course - we had a fallen tree right across it and things had gotten extremely muddy. The course remained ridabe and fun but we decided to reduce the races by a lap to stop riders getting bogged down.

MAD Dash Winners Medal

Thanks to all the riders and spectators for attending, Rachael, Caroline and Aoife for marshalling, Lorna and Judidh for their great work on the sign-on and all the MAD members who helped put the whole event together.

Download the full results (xls) here.

We're looking forward to an event next year aleady.

I can't wait NOT to see an email from Morgan or Sean titled "track building 7pm at Slade tonight" - coz it's all over!(for now). I thought the course raced really well, although as Paddy and myself agreed, we would've been much faster if Sports started a few hours later coz it got nice and dry in a lot of parts later.Looking forward to racing at Bray next Sun, (just about enough time for my legs to recover). PS-the medals looked great, not sure who got them done but nice job, if I had known they looked so cool I would've tried harder for one!

    Hi guys,

Just to say thanks for the day yesterday! I had a great time (even if it was a little chilly!). No serious crashes, which was good! I've put the photos I took of the day up on my web site at:

    http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rachael_rua/album?.dir=11b8re2&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rachael_rua/my_photos

Some of the photos of the riders are a little shakey.. I had one of you Ryan, but you were cycling so fast you were just a blur so I had to delete it!

Wow-nearly forgot to say a massive thanks to everyone who gave up their time or race opportunity to do the marshalling/time-keeping etc.. yesterday -much appreciated! Big cheer for Mick, aka "MC MOD on da mike" who did a top job on the race commentary (you should get a job at the next Budweiser Derby Mick!), Morgan and Sean for - well, loads!- making the vision a reality!
Rachael & friend at the bottom of the valley who I nearly crashed into, Caroline on the top of the valley (encouraging people NOT to take the chicken run) Judith on the gate (you could teach the Garda traffic corps a thing or two!), Maru the Crominator (for being able to walk after his triathlon, having a cool nickname & not gettin' blown off that hill!), Hamish for precision hedge trimming (he can turn a plain old hedge of gorse into a fully detailed mountainbike!), Geoff for much-needed shouts of encouragement, my girlfriend Helen for the scones (says she's not gonna make a habit of the baking but I'll have words with her...) and everyone else I missed or whose name I can't remember-cheers!

Ahah, there had to be a flaw somewhere - can't explain why I didn't spot it. We missed you first time around (hence the 57 min lap!) but can confirm you did indeed finish in 5th spot.

    Regards,
    Sean

As Fergal said well done to all yesterday, looks like it got a good reaction, well done especially to Nigel (4th place) and Shane (3rd in U16), and everyone else who raced on the day. And to everyone who gave up there time to put it all together over the last number of weeks.

    Roll on NPS!!!!!!!!!!!

Have some video and pictures will post them later.
