Another fine weekend of cycling by all accounts....
On Saturday, Nigel, Geoff, John and myself left the YH only to be joined by Ryan in Ticknock on another glorious day. Geoff soon realised that he should really read the labels on aerosol cans more carefully after cleaning his chain with disc brake cleaner and shining his discs up with some nice chain lube. He struggled on bravely on the bone-dry trails for a while before calling it a day. The rest managed the trails above the carpark, a run down daggets and a run down the sketchy DH near the clubcourse with impressive flow as ground which was unrideable due to mud a few short weeks ago now threw dust in our faces. Deadly.
Early on Sunday, Morgan and Mick participated in the Wicklow 100, fending off all of the elderly tourists to be the first finishers, while Ryan and Melanie took on the real challenge of the day, the 200km event taking in the Sally Gap, Wicklow Gay and Slieve Maan. As expected Ryan had few problems with the route but Melanie certainly deserves a hearty slap on the back for completing the course on an mtb in 10 hours and 10 mins. The title of POG queen shall certainly be hers after training like that!!!

A few hours later a group of 6 riders assembled to ride a decent bit of road and some new trails to cap it off....all were impressed.....another fantastic day...

Yeah Saturday was a nice day for it, Mechanical problems put me out of Sundays spin, but congrats to those who done the Wicklow Challenge/200.

I'm not sure about that Sean - I think Paddy has his eye on the POG Queen title.

Mick and I dashed around the 100km route and got back in good time, expecting to be showered with prizes. Apparently there aren't any! I feel cheated.

Well done to Mel for making it around - that's a hell of a long day in the saddle.

We rolled into UCD shortly before 11, where they were only getting things ready for the finishers. That's good (we were relatively quick!), but it was also a bit of an anti-climax. The place was deserted, except for the three lads that made it home before us (see that? Only three in front of us!). It was a bit boring though, so back on the bike home for a nice cup of tea.

thanks morgan - it's an especially long day in that saddle of Ryan's! Should really invest in a woman's saddle before doing that again... Also, probably won't be doing the POG but might come along to watch and cheer anyway :)
