This week/weekend

Hey folks.

Plenty of biking to be done over the coming week. Details are as follows!

Tuesday - Nightriding. Meeting outside ticknock/3rock carpark at 730.

Thursday - Nightracing league. 7pm at the Leadmines Tower. If you are driving then please park at Palmers Pub and then cycle up.

3 spins for you lot this weekend - 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday.

Saturday - (i) Martini's Beginner/easy spins continue. Meeting at 10am SHARP Yellow House. Going to do a run of The Hellfire Club and Masseys Wood. There is a bit of climbing involved to get to the destination but it's easier than getting to 3rock. This won't be a problem for anyone so come along!
(ii) Steve's got himself a new bike and wishes to make proper use of it out in Cloon Forest. The plan is to meet at Yellow House at 9.30 and drive down to Cloon for about 10. This spin requires no fitness to speak of but be warned, the course is quite technical, so some love for descending is essential. There are two great DH tracks down here so its an easy enough push to the top for a choice of two great descents! If you have a bike rack then please bring it to the yellow house, along with a car of course! Check the website for more details about this spin.

Sunday - We haven't been to Kindelstown/Glen of the Downs on a daytime spin in a while now, so that is our destination. Meeting at Kindlestown Carpark at 10am. If the weather holds up we will also head to the Sugar Loaf for a really great descent. I'm sure people will need lifts so if you can offer one then mail the group!

Directions to Kindlestown

Night-lights are essential for the nightrides.
Helmets are compulsory for all spins.
Bring some food and water with you on all spins.

Any problems, email me at poloholemint AT gmail DOT com, or phone/text on 087 9335403

    hey all,

martin you can count me in for the spin to helfire on saturday morning!
i think the downhill might be a tad out of my league for the time being plus i need to study a bit so i only have time for a spin close to home! i'll see you at the Yellow House at 10!

    cheers,

    barry.

fair play to the lads who headed up to Leadmines for the night race, Oisin and Steve must've been hammering around that track - which I gather was very muddy! Nice one Nigel, Tom and Graham too, hope to see ye for the next one, I'm sitting in feckin Phoenix airport after hearing that my flight is 2 hours late, so now I'm gonna miss my Heathrow connection as a result, shee-ite!

oh, and I've now got a nasty cold!

I mean, I go out on chilly damp night rides at home and not a bother on me,then I head over to sunny warm Arizona and end-up snuffling and snorting and wheezing like a...well, I don't know what really, but general moaning complaining sounds etc...

The ever-unfurling adventures of the MAD lads is keeping me entertained though....someone tell me a happy story.....(sniff)

The night race was brilliant! Very muddy and slippy but after a lap or two you start to learn the best lines and the spots where you can put down the power. Only thing is by that stage my legs were wrecked.

I think a lot of people from EPIC are going to be out at the Cloon DH course on Saturday doing some maintenance on the track. Might be problematic if there are loads of us riding the course? We'll probably get roped into helping as well but thats all good.

As shane said, the course is very technical. If you are a beginner I would suggest trying our beginner spin instead, but it's up to yourself anyway! Just so you know, the beginner spin is very cross country orientated, but it's a very good place to start if you want to get into downhill eventually.

Cloon spin are meeting at 930

    Beginner spin meeting at 10.
