I will Exorcise your Demonic Savagery!

Get Exorcised!!!

Your club secretary is assuming the role of Father Damian Karras
from the Exorcist in order to banish impure non-savage spirits
from your mortal souls!
The 'Ceremony' starts at the unholy hour of 8:30 at Taylors on Sat 24th Feb
Father Karras will hear your confessions on the skeleton-rattling Boneshaker.
Woeful penance will be laid upon you if you are suspected of
attending bingo instead of training hard!!!
Despite the obviously evil theme, "zombie bikers" will suffer if they try this one.

Roars of evil laughter!!!!
Arrggghhh - ha ha ha!!!!!

so, there you go now, a nice fast spin on Saturday morning,
I could have simply said that and not terrified people with all this scary malarky
but that's just not the MAD way.....

toodle-doo!!!

I should be there. If you can haul yourself out of bed, the early morning spins are good cause you're finished by lunchtime so you can spend the afternoon in the pub... I mean training...ahem.

we could be mad and try get in 3 rock AND Leadmines - bit of road in between to give us a breather.

    3 Rock:
We could climb the boneshaker, then halfway up to fairy turn left along the fence and follow this to the forest edge, then maybe turn in left, past the fallen tree and down the rooty descent of fun and laughter.

Back up the fireroad across the singletrack to no-dabs, sharp left at the track that bisects no-dabs, down that section, then down the bermy path to the right of way.
Exit the right of way then on the road to Leadmines.

Depends on how long people want to go out for, those who want a little more can come along to the Leadmines:

Loop or two of the epic course and then to Barnaslingan - a speedy loop or two around the lower forest singletrack, then up the path again and over the rocky descent Cait from UCD showed a few of us the other week (it's a nice one), from there down to the road and sprint all the way (errr...)back to Taylors.

we can add/delete loops as we need to....you likey ??

Hello David the Czech. It is a big yellow pub (not the yellow house). If you follow the Grange road up from the Yellow house where we normally meet you will pass A hockey club, Marlay park and St John's GAA club - all on the right hand side. When you get to St. Johns, turn right and follow that road. You will come to a strange junction about 300m up the road. Taylor's pub is right in front of you. There is an M50 bridge in front of you also. We normally go up this road when going to threerock.

    Taylors pub

note that this will be a tough fast spin, if you haven't been out with us before I'd suggest you do the Improvers spin in Kindlestown at 10am

While I'm at it, here are some other useful MAD-meet-up places:
    Palmers Golden Ball pub
    Ticknock car park

yep that was a bit of a demon one alright, no spewing but plenty of hell-bound crashes!

even before that though special mention must be made of MTB-Moses who made the whole spin in a pair of jesus-boots...

    Now to the action:
First-up we had Mr "spit-in-the-face-of-danger" Noel Carr who got wrestled to the ground by a disgruntled gorse bush while hammering down the bermy-curvy trail down to Barnacullia, no sooner down than he was back up again, he's going to have some cross words with his bar-ends this evening....wouldn't like to be those bar-ends...

Then down the right-of-way and more top entertainment as Robb attempted to jump the steps and landed front wheel-first and just about recovered it.
Next up Noel and a spectacular over the bars multiple roll wipe-out - wow!
Budding semi-professional sports-camera action Media-Man Morgan was there to capture the rough and tumble.
Then off to Leadmines where Mark and his pedal parted company several times and he finally had to call it a day.
A non-record breaking puncture-repair time was logged by Oisin, then off home we went via the trail thru Barnaslingan where I parted company with bike control at the last section but the good ole elbow pads were there to rescue me.

oh, the biggest feed ever of smokey-bacon and pasta when I got home - yummy

deadly spin, the stunts were brilliant, glad both the lads excaped unscathed, i was ripping with the pedal as everything was going really, but sure these things happen.....and on the way home a warning light appeared on the dash of my car, flippin bugger.....

Sorry to miss that one lads. Was doing some much needed shopping for Claudia. Shes an expensive bird, but well worth it once you get a ride :P

Great spin today out to Kindelstown and Glen of the Downs. Myself, Nigel, Tom, Judith, Rob, Cait, Graham and Oisin. We did a fairly sluggish lap of Kindelstown (man-eating sludge everywhere!) and then onto Glen of the Downs. Well what a place this is! First we did the bermy decent. And then again. And then the long FAASSSSSSST (or not so for me:() decent. We then climbed back up to the bermy decent AGAIN and trialed some gnarly steep bits before heading onto the gully of swoopyness and up the road home.

Think this is a nice time to mention Graham's(Deadly Diamond) gorgeous Canyon XC machine. It is truly beautiful. The fork on it is mad! It has a brain or something, felt like getting it to do my exams. Really nifty stuff altogether.... Nigel has also resurected his Merlin in very shiny fashion. Very nice as always.

So whos on for this XC race next weekend?

The question is, did Tom redeem himself at the gully???!?!?!?

  • At 3:52 p.m., Blogger Tom Heavey said…

Well Mark the answer i am afraid is no, however from up further on the trail there is video footage of my attempt to take to the rather tricky straight down route down as opposed to the switchbacks, where, rather embarrassingly, and much to everyones amusement, i ended up on the deck,...it was part of my psyche-myself-up approach, which ultimately back-fired...

  • At 4:44 p.m., Blogger Mark C said…

    DOH.....don't you worry tommy lad it'll happen.....sometime

    where's the footage???
