Race Season Is Here!

The start of the 2006 XC National Champs in Kilruddary
The 2007 race season is finally upon us with the K-Capital Cup starting next week (March 11th) in Kilruddery. If, like most of us, you haven't been intensively training since November there are a couple of last-minute opportunities to get up to speed. EPIC will be running another night race in Leadmines this Thursday (handicapped, so everyone has an equal chance of winning). Then on Sunday Round 4 of the Connacht XC League takes place in Clarenbridge Co. Galway. I'd encourage everyone to try a race or two this year - it's an opportunity to ride in different locations, it'll make you fitter and of course it's a lot of fun.

Booooo about the race on Thursday... Anybody up for a few loops of racing savagery up 3 rock? Mass start, short loop, see how many laps you can do in an hour or something? Doubt anybody is willing to time keep but if they are..... That would be cool :D

I can't wait for the races either. I hear the Kilruddery will be class. Lots of climbing but lots of great singletrack descending :)

Ahhh, the starting line nerves... :)

i was talked into racing by none other than shane!

i suppose it will be a good way to celebrate the mocks being over and done with!

...we can have a massive session afterwards, which will also be a good way to celebrate...

Just what I was thinking Steve - we should organise something for Thursday - club course + a bit more perhaps. We can invite the regular EPIC racers along if they're up for it.

Yeah I'm up for fast laps on Thursday as well. Need something to fill the adrenaline gap since no Epic night race this week.

Alright cool. We will go with the idea of, as many laps in 60minutes as possible so.. I think Fergal has a nice loop in mind, im not too fond of the club course anymore... Well just the bottom sections really.

should be a bunch of improvers/beginners in 3rock too Thursday night! watch out for the return of the bingo ladies and bodies flying through the air and trees!

we'll probably do our own thing but might try a some of the club course when the coast is clear!
