The Night-Train is running again!

Yes indeed race-fans, night training again this Thurs meeting at Taylors pub 7pm for laps of 3 rock.
There's a small new section Nigel and myself completed last week that needs bedding-in, we might do a load of sprints around that for a warm-up, then we'll agree on a loop section.
This will be a savage-graded spin where you're expected to go as hard as you can for as long as you can, or as long as your lights last, it'll stand to you come race time!
I'll also be up there on either the Wed or Fri evening so add a comment to this blog if you are planning to come out either of those evenings.
** EDIT: Note that I'm heading up 3 rock tonight also(Wed 14 Mar), will be setting off from Taylors at 7pm for anyone that's interested in some training**
See ye there

your counted Mr Heavey, that makes 2 - me & you
I have plenty more fingers to count on people!
Come on - get your bums on those bikes and lets get more MAD riders faster past the finish line at the next K-Cap in Rostrevor.
Set yourselves a goal folks, mine is the Chairman of MAD, he's stealthily fast that fellah, makes it look like he's not trying when he's bombing along, he beat me good in Kilruddery, I'm going to need a plan...

Nice one "anonymous" - very brave. It seems you lack the courage of your convictions.

You bet Martin, training sessions are for everyone, go at your own pace but push yourself at the same time, the more you hurt in training, the less you suffer in racing!

I must be doing something wrong because I suffer in the races :)
These races are an amazing way of getting a lot fitter, faster and more confident on technical terrain then simply going on a spin. They probably wont make the races hurt less... just you'll be hurting at a higher speed :)

"hurting at a higher speed" - yeah, I'll settle for that Ryan!

lovely conditions for the spin tonight - dry and mild, with mostof the trails in good nick except for Daggetts which we (Ciaran, Graham, Oisin & me) took a chance on, or rather, I took the chance and they followed, first part was grand, then it turned to schloomp not too soon after.
Some fecker is after dropping a huge tree at the exit of it too - no fun!
Previously we had run several short loops of the new trail Nigel and myself started - it's not bad -needs plenty of wheels over it to harden it up and then it'll be much better.
See ye on the night-train tomorrow!

I took a spin out around the new section when i was out today. It's nice - once enough wheels have gone over it so that there is a bit of line it will be great. Nice big natural berms :)

all this talk about spins is making me very jealous....I'm out for the week unfortunately - waiting for a spare drop-out from orange UK so i can fix my drive train....after it busted on lap 2 on the weekend. Let's just hope i can have it fixed for Rostrevor (I think!). By the way.....any spare MAD shirts floating around? Inga

Hi Inga,
We'll try to get you sorted-out with a jersey for the next race, they seem to magically grow in the boot of Morgan's car.....hopefully you will have your bike fixed by then!

I have a Google map done-up to show where there's potential for additional trails such as the new one we were on last night.
I'll post it up next week and try work out a system where we can track what work has been done and what's next to do, that way, if people can't make a particular trail building day, they'll know what's to be done if they can make it up for a few hours work etc...
I'll also try schedule an official trail build day (sometime after Wales trip)to get a load of us out, we can get a huge amount done in a day once we know what the plan is.
thanks

A dig day up there is a great idea. The section that you are currently working on has great scope for up and downhill single track and it usually stays pretty dry in there.
Let me know what needs ot be done and I'll hopefully get up there over the long weekend.

Tom, Tom, Tom.....well what can I say, actually I think you got enough guff from us already and the story of the mechanical from hell is a long and torturous one so I think I'll leave it "on the mountain".
Sorry it took a while for me to get up to you but I blame Morgan for the "Ryan showed us this route recently - I think it's this way, no lets go back, no turn around, maybe it's this way" diversion.
I will say that you redeemed yourself in my eyes by making it from the Blue Light to Miltown is a lightning fast time - couldn't even catch you in the car!
Myself and Steve were saying "nah, he couldn't have made it this far already..." but fair play to ya.
Hope you get your bike sorted ok, it was the most unwell I had seen it in a while. ...

"Leave it on the mountain"? We should have done that with Tom's bike last night. I've never seen such a catalogue of disaster. Maybe the missing bits will turn up over the next few weeks. At least everyone was good-humoured about it - you'd only get that in Ireland's Premier MTB Club. The new trail is nice though - looking forward to getting it finished and working out a good way of getting back to the top. I have a plan...

Guys,
Don't leave us in suspense, What happened? Should we be on the lookout for bike parts strewn along the trails?
