Weekend Plans

Saturday - Yellow House 10am. A local spin as usual, about 3 hours max. Destination will be decided depending on who turns up and where they want to go.

Sunday - UL are hosting an NPS in Killaloe, Limerick. If you are making the trip, and have room in your car, let Sean know as I think there may be a few stuck for transport. If anybody else can't make it to the race like myself and fancy taking a spin on Sunday then give me a shout.

Happy Biking

MAD Spins this week

Hey all,

Now that we're getting back to normal after the success of holding our first proper race on sunday, its time we got back to our normal routine, so ...

Wednesday Evening (12th), 7pm at the yellow house - Usual evening jaunt up towards 3 rock and its surrounds. Time to go back to our original club course and see what condition its in these days. daggets, boneshaker etc.

***EDIT***
Thursday evening (13th), Club league, Hellfire carpark at 7:30 - Sorry, forgot about this the first time! The next round of the club league will be on thursday evening. Once again everyone should go along to these as they're great fun and good practice for racing the nationals on sunday!
***EDIT***

Saturday (15th) Beginners spin, 10am at the yellow house - Suitable for everyone from total beginners to experts. This won;t be suitable for the very young riders, we'll hold an underage suitable spin again at some stage in the next few weeks.

Sunday 16th, National Championships, Kilruddery - We'll have more info for you on this later in the week, but everyone who has raced already this season should be at this. Its on a private estate so this is the only chance you'll ever get to ride these tracks (until next years nationals anyway).

See you there,

Paddy (086 6087046)

MAD Dash Results

All the weeks of work came to an end today as MAD held it's first open race of recent years in Slade Valley. It was a great success with a strong field of 62 riders braving the damp conditions. The gales of the previous night had taken their toll on the course - we had a fallen tree right across it and things had gotten extremely muddy. The course remained ridabe and fun but we decided to reduce the races by a lap to stop riders getting bogged down.

MAD Dash Winners Medal

Thanks to all the riders and spectators for attending, Rachael, Caroline and Aoife for marshalling, Lorna and Judidh for their great work on the sign-on and all the MAD members who helped put the whole event together.

Download the full results (xls) here.

We're looking forward to an event next year aleady.

The Outsider Bike Adventure Challenge

Outsider Bike Adventure ChallengeAugust the 12th brings the Outsider Bike Adventure Challenge. This is an adventure race with a heavy leaning towards mountainbiking. There's an 18km mtb stage, followed by an 8km hillrun and then another 22km mtb stage. For early (i.e. really fast) finshers there's an additional 12km bike and run stage. I've heard there's also a 50m wheelbarrow race to the finish but I could have been imagining that.

Camping and B&B accommodation are available at the finish so you can make a weekend of it.

You can find more details on the race website.

MAD's Trip to Sierra Nevada

It's amazing what you can achieve with an ordinary digital camera, a lot of duct tape and some ingenuity.

MAD's recent adventures with Freeride Spain as recorded by Mark. He also has a gallery of photos from the trip.
